45 Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; 2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: 3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. Isaiah 45.1-3, KJV
We continue our series of teachings about Jesus Alone; in the first week of December, we looked at Jesus Alone Knows. We learnt that God has a lot of secrets and only shares them with His children. God expects that we will painstakingly search out these secrets and receive an inside “scoop” about our future and what we need to do to succeed.
Jesus would painstakingly scout and survey the horizon of our lives and lovingly remove obstructions and arrange things to favour us. He does not want us to come to any hurt. He is always several steps ahead of the enemy and ensures that the enemy does not take advantage of us.
The Lord sent His mighty angel to go ahead of the children of Israel and He advised them to not rebel, otherwise, there will be consequences:
20 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. 21 Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. 22 If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you. 23 My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out. Exodus 23.20-23, KJV chk version!!!
Because God knows the ending from the beginning, He is able to go ahead and make all crooked paths straight. Isaiah 43.2. God is not limited by space, distance, time or power. He is always present, all knowing and all powerful.
The Lord told Moses –“20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.” And again, He said 23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.” Exodus 23.20, 23, KJV.
In 2 Kings 6.8-12, we read the story of how God reveals war secrets to Elisha who then relays it to the armies of Israel. The King of Syria was amazed as he accused his armies and servants of being spies; he learnt that Elisha was able to tap into the resources of heaven and reveal Syrian battle secrets to the King of Israel. The Israelites Lord used this knowledge to their advantage in their battles with the mighty armies of Syria. Allowing the Lord to lead confers tremendous advantages.
Jesus has deep and total knowledge of the end results of every human action. Nothing is hidden from Him: “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do”. Hebrews 4.13, KJV. The Lord looks at the heart not the physical appearance of men. “for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart”. 2 Sam 16.6. KJV
Because Jesus has perfect knowledge; He knows the answers to all questions; He always knows what to do, when to do and how to do it. “When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? 6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do” John 6.5 – 6 KJV
God doesn’t need to “grow”, He doesn’t need to “learn” and he doesn’t need to ask; He knows all things. He doesn’t need to “improve”, he doesn’t need to get “better”; He is already the best. He doesn’t get more powerful; He is already the most powerful; Hebrews 11.3, KJV. Jesus ensures that that His divine purpose is accomplished no matter the circumstances and situation. The enemies thought they got Jesus by crucifying Him, not knowing that by crucifying Jesus, H was receiving the key of death and hell. I Corinthians 2.8.; Phillipians 2.5-11.
No matter how challenging the situation may look, the Lord’s got you covered. You will always triumph, because He is always ahead of the enemy. He always cause His children to triumph. 2 Corinthians 2.14, KJV. Jesus knows there will be challenges in life; persecution is not strange to God; He admonished us to be cheerful because He has overcome for us. John 16.33, KJV.
When we are tempted, the Lord assures that if we look to Him, there will always be an escape route. If you can call on him in the hour of temptation, there is an assurance of escape. I Corinthians 10.13. Any temptation allowed by God to come your way is not unusual for humans, if He allowed it, He gives the ability to avoid it. When Potiphar’s wife offered herself to Joseph, God already gave him the ability to resist and he ran away, leaving his expensive coat in Mrs. Potiphar’s hand. Genesis 39.7-12.
The Lord is able to protect from enemy traps and flying arrows. Psalm 91.3-7, if you trust in Him, He is able to protect you. If the enemy makes a trap, the One that is always ahead of you will turn the table against your enemies and the enemy will fall into his own trap like Haman hung in the gallows he prepared for Mordecai. Esther 7.10; Proverbs 26.27.
