The Evangelism Ministry is mainly concerned with evangelism, which in itself means good news, the sharing of the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We talk about His life, death, resurrection, and of course, the offer of His presence in the lives of mankind, as well as the hope and assurance of eternal life with Him.
Before the foundations of the world, God knowing that man would sin, provided salvation through the atoning sacrifice of His son who died on the cross. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”(John3:16)
Following this, God commands us expressly “go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:15-16)
As we earnestly join other true believers in awaiting the return of Jesus Christ, it is the responsibility of the Evangelism Ministry to help in fulfilling the precondition for this to happen. This is not a matter of conjecture but is expressly stated in the inspired word of God as written in the Matthew 24:14 – “And this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations and then the end will come”
In following the steps of our precious Savior, we encourage all believers to spread His gospel by;
- Actively or intentionally seeking out sinners and proclaiming the word of God to them. “ For the Son of man has come to seek and save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10)
- Displaying a lifestyle, speech, and conduct, guided by the undiluted word of God. And by so doing, we trust that the ways of life of believers would inspire many sinners to repent and forsake their old and sinful lifestyle.
In fact, Jesus Christ Himself encourages us in Phil.2:12-15 “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as light in the world.
In the Evangelism Ministry we regard all new coverts as spiritual infants. They are new born in Jesus Christ. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new (2 Cor.5:17). Consequently, we take on the responsibility of ensuring that, new Believers are not abandoned in their spiritual infancy.
We recognize that evangelism is a process of team work, ( “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase” – 1 Cor.3:6) In collaboration with the Pastorate, the Kibbutz, and other Ministries and Departments in the church, we adopt God’s own formulae for growth (as prescribed in 1 Peter 2:2 – “as new born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby”) in the follow up of new Believers.
We strive to ensure the progressive salvation of new Believers by seeing to it that, as new born babies they do not lack spiritual parents, nurturing, and guidance as they grow.
In summary, our task of evangelism is never completed. All of mankind must hear about Jesus Christ. Those who yield their lives to Him must be followed up with a view to making them disciples of the Lord, while also getting them well established in the
