“In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you.” (Is. 54:14 NKJV).
As a bona fide child of God, you have received the gift of righteousness which enables you to reign in all circumstances of life. “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” (Rom.5:17 KJV).
Righteousness can be defined in simple terms as:
- What brings about a glorious fulfillment
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
2. What speaks on your behalf
Genesis 30: 33 So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before thy face: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me.34 And Laban said, Behold, I would it might be according to thy word.
- What gives an inheritance
Romans 4:13: For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
- What delivers from the jaws of death
Proverbs 10:2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
- What gives wholesome peace
Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Your conduct in life has its foundation in your values. Value is the worth, importance or usefulness of something to somebody. Dreams inspire, visions guide but values sustain. What you value will sustain your behavior.
Esther was an orphan that was well brought up by her Uncle Mordecai. One day her uncle enrolled her in a beauty pageant with the firm instruction that she should not disclose her nationality. She did not question the decision of her uncle. When she was selected amongst those that will see the king, she was asked what she would like to wear and she responded that whatever the caretaker gives her.
“When it was Esther’s turn to go to the king, she accepted the advice of Hegai, the eunuch in charge of the harem. She asked for nothing except what he suggested, and she was admired by everyone who saw her.” (Esther 2:15, NLT)
Compare Esther’s value system with Esau’s,
“And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?”(Genesis 25:31-32, KJV)
Esau sold his future because of food. He said the birthright meant nothing. The birthright involved being the father of the Messiah, choice of all family lands, headship of nations, a special part in the Abrahamic covenant, family supremacy etc. He decided to sell it for dinner. He did not even think about breakfast.
Removal of the veil opens a vista to the awesomeness of a valiant God. The veil has to be removed before you can see the glory of the Lord. The veil are those things that you have used to replace God e.g. horoscope, dollars, logic, friends, pretense, pity party, sins of the past etc. All these hold an individual captive.
When a veil is over an individual, the mind is blinded. Such a mind is unable to enter into a new and living way. The boldness to enter into the holy of holies is unavailable. The realization that the veil of the temple has been torn into two and there is now divine access bestows power.
Values are good but valor will ensure that you do not compromise your values over time. Many have shifted like quick sand deep moral values because of incessant peer pressure. Valor is simply bravery, courage or strength. It takes a deep-rooted strength of character to be able to obey the leading of God in the face of adversity. If you are already fickle or feeble minded, it is going to be tough to get divine direction.
Your focus is on the might of God not the mockery or taunts of Satan.
“In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].” (Ephesians 6:10, AMP)
Excessive pride, especially in your appearance. It is also the state of being futile or empty of significance. A king was once advised:
“Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you; break off your sins and show the reality of your repentance by righteousness (right standing with God and moral and spiritual rectitude and rightness in every area and relation) and liberate yourself from your iniquities by showing mercy and loving-kindness to the poor and oppressed, that [if the king will repent] there may possibly be a continuance and lengthening of your peace and tranquility and a healing of your error.” (Daniel 4:27, AMP)
This king failed to listen to Godly advise. One day he woke up and he started boasting about all that he had accomplished. God decided to show him who made everything possible. For seven years he lived like an animal until he extolled, honored and praised the King of Kings. This incident while unpalatable definitely will be a guide to him that he should not trifle with the God of glory.
It implies being in a pure, natural or clean state. God enjoys communication with pure vessels because He is also pure. Virgins are ready to receive instruction from God and run with what God has said. Those that have collided with other “gods” will weigh the veracity of the instruction and also compare it with what other gods have done.
The prophet Isaiah declared that “a virgin shall conceive”. To conceive means to be pregnant with—child, ideas, plan, invention etc. An impure person cannot conceive a pure plan from God. It is impossible. “The wisdom that is from above is first pure,” (James 3:17, KJV)
If the wisdom is first pure, God will find a pure vessel to carry out the plan.
“In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.”(Luke 1:26-27, NIV)
Mary willingly gave herself. She was not raped. If you have not being receiving direction from the Lord, examine yourself. Are you a virgin? If you are one, are you submitting to him? The Lord will not rape you. You have to totally surrender.
