“At sundown he arrived at a good place to set up camp and stopped there for the night. Jacob found a stone for a pillow and lay down to sleep. As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from earth to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down on it. At the top of the stairway stood the LORD, and he said, “I am the LORD, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I will give it to you and your descendants. Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will cover the land from east to west and from north to south. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants. What’s more, I will be with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. I will someday bring you safely back to this land. I will be with you constantly until I have finished giving you everything I have promised.” (Genesis 28:11-15, NLT)
God’s riches, wisdom and knowledge are so deep that it is impossible to explain his decisions or to understand his ways. When you are saying why did you not do this, He is thinking how come you cannot see what I have done. Nobody knows how the Lord thinks and nobody can become his adviser. None of us gave him anything that He has to pay back. God with all patience and diligence carefully custom-made you with everything that you need. When you look at yourself and the conclusion is midget, He looks at you and exclaims mighty.
An awesome fact about God is that when everybody is thinking about fruit, God is thinking about seed. A seed is the source of a significant change in out look or action. It is the supernatural way of divine involvement. For a family or entity to keep on perpetuating, a seed is needed while for a farm to keep on flourishing seeds needs to be constantly supplied.
When a visitor, onlooker or somebody that knows nothing about the process of sowing and reaping goes to a farm and sees just soil, the first impression is no fruit. But when another person that knows a bit about farming goes to the farm, he wants to know if there are seeds in the soil. If the answer is yes, then he smiles knowing full well that in a matter of time there will be fruit.
God knows that for us as His precious beings to keep fluorishing we need seed. The highlight of the appearance of God to Jacob came when God said “What’s more, I will be with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. I will be with you constantly” — Divine involvement.
The above statement by God is at least five fold – His Presence, Power, Protection, Provision and Persistence. The word impregnated Jacob. “Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.” (Romans 9:29, KJV)
From the womb, God had been with Jacob. God told Rebekah that two nations were in her womb and the elder (Esau) shall serve the younger (Jacob). As children of God, He is involved with us. When you are asking him where are you, He is saying I am living in you as Emmanuel, it is only that you have not come to the full knowledge of who you are in Him. “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” (Colossians 2:9, KJV)
By virtue of family ties, Jacob had great potential. He had in him a seed of greatness but his life was already experiencing a downward spiral. He was a fugitive and also fast becoming a failure. At this time his smartness was really failing him.
Until God revealed to him that he has been involved even in the travails of his life he was almost becoming a frustrated individual. Divine involvement simply means participation or association from above.
- To contain or include as a necessary element
Romans 9: 25As he says in Hosea: “I will call them ‘my people’ who are not my people; and I will call her ‘my loved one’ who is not my loved one,”26 and,”It will happen that in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’ NIV
- To be a matter that concerns somebody
“Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.” (Isaiah 49:15, KJV)
- To connect a person with something
“And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow shot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept. And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.” (Genesis 21:16-19, KJV)
- To make somebody take part in an event
- To take up somebody’s whole attention
“Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. 13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. 14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.” (Joshua 10:12-14, KJV)
Why do you need Divine Involvement?
- He is above all
“He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.” (John 3:31, KJV)
- He is higher than the highest
“If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.” (Ecclesiastes 5:8, KJV)
- He can see all
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” (Hebrews 4:13, KJV)
- He can see the heart of all
“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7, KJV)
