“Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:34-35, NKJV)
One thing that does not cease to amaze me about God is the extent to which he is prepared to go for the one that he loves. He is always prepared to do a new thing to show that His steadfast love is new everyday. God’s way is never man’s way—Genesis 50:20, 1 Samuel 16:7..for God seeth not as man seeth…
When God makes a decision to move on behaf of those that he loves, nature or negativity will not dissuade him on destinys path. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.” (Isaiah 55:8, NKJV)
The word of God says even if we believe not he abideth faithful, he cannot deny himself.
Over two thousand years ago, he demonstrated this in a region now called the middle east to a people he loves. Nature in the form of the red sea was staring the Israelites in the face and negativity in the form of murmuring and complaints was a constant that Moses had to deal with. In spite of all these, God still created an express way without the modern day machinery in the middle of the sea.
Life is full of doors both in the physical and spiritual. Every day of the year and every situation have a door. A door is a means of exit or entrance. A door can either prevent or permit. If an individual is placed in a room and is unable to go out, it is certain that after a while (depending on her tolerance threshold) she will become hungry, thirsty, uncomfortable, will not be able to communicate or network, may become claustrophobic or start hallucinating, will not be able to work etc.
When there are open doors, the same individual will be nourished, fulfilled, healthy, comfortable, progressing, socialize (be able to marry), have children etc.
Jesus said, “Let us pass over unto the other side…” (Mark 4:35) He also said, “Go into the village over against you…” (Matthew 21:2) It is recorded that, “the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind…” (Exodus 14:21-22)
All the above scenario point to the fact that every situation have a door. Most of the doors that leads to good success in life are not visible. A door is a device used to block an entrance or a passage way. A door is used to secure something of importance to ward off or dissuade intruders.
When we talk about open doors, it is mostly not physical doors. They are doors that the physical eyes cannot see but you need to go through them or they must be opened for you to get to your place of success. Twenty people can go for an interview, out of the twenty, two can be friends. One of the friends that is less deserving and qualified physically could be given the job.
This is because the one that got the job entered through a door of employment that others could not see. As he entered into this door, all the benefits of open doors became his portion. Inspite of his qualification, favour qualified him.
In 1 Corinthians 16:9, the bible says, “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.” KJV
Five wonderful characteristics of the door are:
- It is great
No matter how big your problem God will turn them to prospects
- It is effectual
No matter how great your expectations God will turn them to exploits
- It is Open
No matter the time you come to him God will be on time
- It is kept open by an unseen hand
No matter how unfathomable the circumstance God is still the unchanging changer
- It is not every door that is opened that you go through
You need to always check from God before taking any step
The statement “For a great door and effectual is opened” has different meanings to different individuals.
- You may not see it now but the doors are open
Judges 6: 15Gideon said to Him, Oh Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Behold, my clan is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. AMP
- You may be the only one that sees while there are multitude of mockers it does not change the fact that the doors are still open
2 Kings 7: 1THEN ELISHA said, Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will sell for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria! AMP
- You are supposed to see the opened doors (it is right before your eyes)
Mark 16: 4And when they looked up, they [distinctly] saw that the stone was already rolled back, for it was very large. AMP
- You or anybody else cannot shut the doors
Revelations 3: 8I know your [record of] works and what you are doing. See! I have set before you a door wide open which no one is able to shut; AMP
- Due to the fact that the door is for you and it is selective in nature, it will open for you and shut against others.
“Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained.” (Exodus 14:28, NKJV)
Paul recognized that there is an open door available despite challenges. He also knew the kind of door — a great and effectual one. There is no limit to the extent of your accomplishment on this terra firma. It starts with differentiating between opportunities and obstacles.
While doors are a bit different from gates, but for this study, we will use them interchangably.
When Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” (Luke 1:34) What she was actually saying is that, according to the way that the Almighty God designed procreation, the door must be opened for there to be child birth. As a virgin, the hymen was still intact so how can the sperm fertilize the egg? Mary was then introduced to the Holy Spirit that can selectively open any door or gate of obstruction.
Note the word selective. While a door or gate is opened for one, it can be shut for the other. When the door opened for Peter and his chains were broken to get out of the prison, the chains that held other prisoners and even the keeper of the prison bound were intact.
Doors or Gates can represent place of:
- Judgement—“then the man or woman who has committed such an evil act must be taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death.” (Deuteronomy 17:5, KJV)
- Security—“And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.” (1 Samuel 23:7, KJV)
- Hindrance—to test your readiness for the next level:
- Hebrews 10:38-39—Turn back
- Matthew 7:7—Knock
- Revelation 3:7-8—Use the key
- Judges 16:3—Uproot the gate
- Psalm 24:7—Speak to the gate
- Psalm 114:1-7—Your Presence
- Access—“Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;” (Isaiah 45:1, KJV)
- Decision—Esther 6:2 and Esther 3:2-4, Esther 6:12
- Distinction—2 Kings 7:
Song of Solomon 7: 13 The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.
By his grace, multiple doors of blessings without sorrow will open for you now in the mighty name of Jesus.
